Samsung S20 vs iPhone 12 | The Comparison
We let the two giants compete against each other and make the comparison between the Apple iPhone 12 and the Samsung Galaxy S20.
But we don’t just compare the basic models, i.e. iPhone 12 vs. Samsung S20. The other model variants available in Switzerland iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max as well as the Samsung Galaxy S20 variants S20 +, S20 + 5G, S20 Ultra and S20 Ultra 5G will also be included in the comparison.
The comparison of the base models: Galaxy S20 vs. iPhone 12
First we compare the basic models, i.e. the Apple iPhone 12 with the Samsung Galaxy S20. The iPhone 12 has only been on the market since October 23, 2020, making it more than half a year younger than the Samsung S20, which has been on sale in Switzerland since March 13, 2020.
Probably the biggest innovation with the iPhone 12 is its standard 5G suitability. Samsung took a different route. Because the Samsung Galaxy S20 is available in both a 5G version and a version without 5G. The latter is only LTE-capable.
The same applies to the S20 +, S20 Ultra and S20 FE (Fan Edition) models. All of these smartphones are also available in both a 5G version and without 5G. Samsung had already built a 5G version of the previous model, the Galaxy S10, while there was no device with 5G in the iPhone 11 series, i.e. the predecessors of the iPhone 12 series.
In terms of camera technology, the Samsung S20 with its triple camera has more to offer than the iPhone 12 with its dual camera. Only the front camera of the iPhone 12 can, in terms of the number of megapixels, in the Samsung S20 vs. iPhone 12 comparison offer more. While the S20 only has a 10 megapixel camera on the front, the iPhone 12 has a 12 megapixel front camera.

iPhone-Samsung comparison of the other models
Just like Apple, Samsung is also bringing out its flagship in a basic version and in other model variants that differ in size and features. In the following, the respective special models of the iPhone 12 series are compared with the corresponding special models of the S20 series.
Let’s start small: The iPhone 12 is also available in a mini version. A comparison with the Samsung Galaxy S20 devices is not possible here, as there is no device in the S20 series in a reduced size.
Apple iPhone 12 Pro vs. Samsung Galaxy S20 +
The iPhone 12 Pro comes closest to the Samsung Galaxy S20 + 5G, which is why we compare these two devices with each other below.
One of the most significant differences is the size of the display. At 6.1 inches, the iPhone 12 Pro is the same size as the normal iPhone 12. The screen size of the Galaxy S20 + 5G, however, is 6.7 inches.
There is also a difference in terms of the main camera. While the camera of the iPhone 12 Pro is a triple camera consisting of a telephoto, ultra-wide-angle and wide-angle lens, the S20 + 5G has a quad camera, which in addition to the three types of lenses of the iPhone 12 Pro also has a depth camera.

Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max vs. Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G
In the top league of smartphones from Apple and Samsung, we compare the iPhone 12 Pro Max with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. In terms of display size, the two smartphones hardly differ. The iPhone 12 Pro Max with its 6.7-inch screen is slightly smaller than the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G with its 6.9-inch display.
Just like the iPhone Pro, the iPhone Pro Max is inferior to the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G in terms of the number of camera lenses. Theoretically, there is also a construction variant of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G with an internal memory of 512 GB and a 16 GB working memory (RAM). However, this model is not offered by any of the major electronics stores in Switzerland.
