Sunrise is one of the few Swiss providers to operate its own mobile network. In Switzerland, Sunrise has a market share of 25% (as of 2020), making it the second-largest mobile network operator in the country. According to Sunrise, the following networks are operated: 3G (UMTS/HSPA), 4G (LTE), 4G /LTE Advanced, 5G.

The network coverage of a mobile operator shows you the availability of a mobile network at a certain location. If this is good at a location, good reception can be guaranteed.

 

How good is the Sunrise network?

According to quality tests, Sunrise is one of the best networks in the German-speaking world. For example, Sunrise was the only mobile provider to receive the top rating of "outstanding" four times in a row in connect's internationally recognized quality benchmark test. 

Sunrise 4G and 4G+ network coverage

In 2019, Sunrise had already achieved nationwide 4G coverage of 96% of the Swiss population. For 4G+, the figure is 85%.

Sunrise 5G network coverage

Sunrise has a 5G network coverage of 80%. As early as 2018, Sunrise began expanding its 5G network and in 2021 already provided 731 cities and towns with high-speed internet. The network provider is concentrating on first supplying households and companies with 5G that do not yet have a fiber-optic connection and thus still have access to super-fast Internet.

If you have any questions, Sunrise customer service is at your disposal. You can reach the service by phone throughout Switzerland on 0800 707 707, which is open from Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 19:00. In addition, Sunrise customer service can be reached via the web chat on the website from Monday to Friday between 8 am and 7 pm. According to a survey by the mobile phone trade magazine Connect, Sunrise hotline staff are competent and service-oriented. They also answer any questions reliably and professionally and find solutions. 

If you sign up for a Sunrise subscription at discounted rates through alao, our customer service will take care of everything. We cancel your old contract (which is possible from 6 months before expiration), take your number with you free of charge and make sure that your new contract starts on your desired date. Even after that, we will be at your side to answer any questions or help you with any problems that may arise.

Cancel Sunrise Subscription

There are many reasons to cancel your Sunrise subscription, and each one has different things to consider. Sunrise handles all cancellations - mobile and home - by phone or via web chat. Customer service will give you any additional information you need. 

At Sunrise, you should pay particular attention to the minimum contract durations. These must be adhered to. If you fail to do so, you may incur high penalties. You can find out how high these are and what else you need to watch out for here.

This is what you must bear in mind when cancelling your contract with Sunrise

The cell phone subscriptions with Sunrise can only be cancelled after the minimum contract period has expired. At Sunrise, this is at least 12 months, but often also 24 months. The notice period is 60 days. With a notice period of 60 days to the minimum contract period, a cell phone subscription from Sunrise can therefore be terminated at the earliest. As long as the cancellation period and minimum contract duration are adhered to, there are no additional costs for the cancellation. If you want to cancel before the expiration of the minimum contract period, you have to pay a penalty fee for the early cancellation of the contract. This can cost several hundred francs, because the basic fees for the remaining term will still be charged. If you cancel your subscription after the minimum contract period has expired without adhering to the regular cancellation period, you will have to pay the basic fees for the remaining two months plus a fee of CHF 100. For this reason, it is recommended to wait for the minimum contract period. 

This is what you should do when you change your subscription

You want to switch to a new provider and keep your number? Then you should not simply cancel your current subscription. If you do, you may lose your number. In most cases, you can simply give your number to the new provider and request a number transfer. In most cases, the new provider will then also take over the cancellation of your cell phone subscription with Sunrise, but the minimum contract period and notice periods must be observed here as well. Otherwise, you can ask customer service to convert the number to prepaid after the cancellation period.

Sunrise Home subscriptions include fixed network, Internet and TV. For these complex combination deals, there is a bit more to consider when canceling than with the cell phone subscription. Just as with the cell phone subscription, a notice period of 60 days applies and the cancellation is carried out by phone with Sunrise customer service 0800 100 600 or via web chat. 

Fees for Sunrise Home cancellation

No termination fees are incurred until the minimum contract period has expired. This is between 12 and 24 months in each case. In any other case, there are additional charges. For example, in the event of premature termination, the monthly recurring basic charges will be billed until the end of the minimum contract period. After the end of the minimum contract period, the cancellation period of two months must be observed. 

Return hardware after termination

After the termination of the contract, you must return the hardware to Sunrise, as they are only borrowed. This includes Internet and TV boxes, modem and router. If the hardware is not returned to Sunrise within 60 days after termination of the contract, a cancellation fee will be charged. For Wlan routers and TV boxes, this amounts to CHF 100, for the Sunrise Internet Box 5G, however, CHF 250.

What happens to your Sunrise Home subscription when you move house?

When you move, you must of course also take your Sunrise Home subscription with you. To do this, you must register your move online with Sunrise 14 days in advance. Here you have to enter the desired moving date, your new address, previous tenant's number and, if necessary, the number of your fiber optic outlet at the new place of residence. You can keep your landline number, but you can also request a new one. The processing fee for this is CHF 79.

With Sunrise Mobile start you have the possibility to make unlimited calls within Switzerland to the Sunrise mobile network (+ 3 additional numbers of your choice) every month. In addition, you can write unlimited messages within Switzerland and have 1.5 GB available for surfing. The subscription is available for CHF 25.- per month.

Sunrise We Mobile M

The Sunrise cell phone subscription Sunrise We Mobile M provides you with monthly unlimited data volume with a speed of up to 100 Mbit/s on 5G. In addition, you can make unlimited calls and write messages throughout Switzerland. The Sunrise cell phone subscription can be purchased for CHF 29.00 per month. 

Sunrise We Mobile L

With the Sunrise We Mobile L subscription, you can surf, call, and text within Switzerland and Europe every month with unlimited speed of up to 200 Mbit/s. The Sunrise cell phone subscription can be purchased for CHF 39 per month.

Sunrise We Connect WiFi

The We Home S subscription is Sunrise's entry-level Internet package. The offer includes a home Internet connection. Due to the comparatively slow Internet speed of up to 100 Mbit/s (via fiber or G.Fast), this Sunrise Internet subscription is ideal for households with occasional Internet use.

A free fixed-line phone connection with per-minute rate is included in the Sunrise We Home S subscription. The connection fee is a one-time charge of 79 francs. If you book online, the fee is waived.

Sunrise TV offers over 200 channels as well as Video On Demand. In addition, you have a storage capacity of over 2000 hours and a 7-day replay TV function. So you have the possibility to watch your favorite movies offline, save them and look up the shows of the past week. With the Sunrise UPC TV app, you can also stream your TV program on your smartphone or tablet - where and when you want. The app can be used on up to three devices simultaneously, guaranteeing you uninterrupted entertainment. 

Sunrise TV Box

The Sunrise TV Box is particularly impressive for another reason: it is made of 35% recycled material and is therefore environmentally friendly and sustainable. The box is also powered by the TV's USB port, which is why it consumes less than 5 watts.

A fixed network flat rate is also included in the subscription. This means you can make unlimited calls to all networks in Switzerland.

The Sunrise We Home XL+ subscription includes an Apple TV set-top box worth CHF 199, which can be connected to the TV or a monitor.

You also get access to the TV neo max streaming service: As a TV neo max customer, you get over 240 channels and a storage capacity of 500 cloud recording hours, as well as a come-back function of 7 days. This gives you the opportunity to watch your favorite movies offline, save them and look up the previous week's shows. In addition, with TV neo max you can stream on up to 6 devices, so the whole family can benefit from the offer. The streaming subscription can be cancelled at any time.
