The network coverage of a mobile phone provider shows you the availability of a mobile phone network at a certain location. If this is good at a location, good reception can be guaranteed.

The mobile provider Sunrise Communications AG is the second largest mobile network operator in Switzerland and offers nationwide network coverage. According to Sunrise, the following networks are operated: 3G (UMTS/HSPA), 4G (LTE), 4G+/LTE Advanced, 5G.

Especially in urban regions, the new standard can already be used.

According to the network operators, almost 100% of Swiss people already benefit from the 4G network. The providers are now working on comprehensive 5G network coverage, which guarantees even faster internet. Sunrise is also making progress with the 5G network expansion: according to the provider, 713 locations were covered with 5G in February.

The abbreviations 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G are the designations for the different generations of the mobile communications standard. The G stands for generation. The individual connection types differ mainly in the speed of data transmission.

An overview of the differences between the mobile radio standards:

3G: With the introduction of UMTS, the era of mobile surfing began. The predecessor 2G was mainly used for telephony and sending SMS. With the 3G/UMTS mobile communications standard, download speeds of up to 384 kbit/s are achieved.

4G: With 4G network coverage, fast surfing and downloading is possible. The LTE connection enables a speed of 500 Mbit/s. However, the maximum download speeds are almost never reached in practice, as this strongly depends on the number of devices logged into the transmission tower. In addition, it is crucial which speed of the LTE download rate the smartphone supports.

5G: Industry in particular benefits from the even faster 5G network. The download speed here is up to 2 Gbit/s. The 5G+ network uses 5G with high bandwidths and even enables transmission rates of up to 10 Gbit/s.

Cancel Sunrise Subscription

Do you want to cancel your Sunrise contract or change your Sunrise subscription? Over time, it can make sense to cancel your tariff in order to access a better offer. We therefore recommend terminating your contract after two or three years or changing your Sunrise subscription. You can find out what you should bear in mind when cancelling your contract below.

Cancel Your Sunrise Subscription

If you wish to extend your existing Sunrise subscription, you can do so by renewing your subscription. If you wish to cancel the contract, you should inform the provider, Sunrise Communication AG, by telephone or via Sunrise Chat. Written notices of termination by post or e-mail are no longer accepted. You can find the Sunrise Chat on the Sunrise website. The Sunrise Relation Team can quickly take care of all administrative matters.

If you wish to cancel your Sunrise subscription by telephone, you can contact Sunrise on the customer service number 0800 100 600 or 0800 707 505 and inform the employee of the services you wish to cancel.

You can also request a callback on the Sunrise website. You should have your customer number and contract details to hand during the call.

Sunrise Cancellation Period and Minimum Contract Term

Before you cancel your Sunrise subscription, you should take a close look at your contract. Among other things, the contract specifies the period of notice and the minimum contract term. The notice period describes the period between the submitted notice and the termination of the contract with the provider.

The minimum contract period, on the other hand, is the time during which the contract is effective and legally binding. Within this period, the contractual relationship cannot be terminated prematurely.

Cancel Sunrise Mobile Phone Subscription

If you want to keep the phone number, you should register it with the new provider in good time. You will receive the form for transferring the number from the new provider. Also make sure that you only cancel your Sunrise subscription when you switch to a new subscription.

If the subscription is cancelled first and the change takes place later, your telephone number will be lost and cannot be reactivated. The easiest way is to order a new subscription. The new provider will then take care of the cancellation and the transfer of the mobile phone number.

Sunrise generally waives a minimum contract period on mobile phone subscriptions. An exception may exist in the case of a promotion. Sunrise Mobile subscriptions can therefore be cancelled at any time, subject to the cancellation period of two months to the end of the month. Inform the provider of the cancellation by telephone or via Sunrise Chat.

Cancel Sunrise Internet Subscription

Sunrise Internet subscriptions are subject to a notice period of two months to the end of the month and compliance with the minimum contract term of 12 or 24 months (promotions). You can give Sunrise notice of termination by phone or chat.

Cancel Sunrise Combi-subscription

The Sunrise Combi subscription is also subject to a minimum contract period of 12 or 24 months, taking into account the 60-day notice period. If you want to cancel the Sunrise Combi contract, notify the provider by phone or via Sunrise Chat.

Surfing is becoming increasingly important in this day and age. Depending on the need for surfing volume, other subscriptions are recommended. There are data-only subscriptions on the market as well as subscriptions that include a certain internet speed. Know Your Own Needs

The first question you should ask yourself is how much internet you need. Data-intensive apps and applications are becoming more and more popular and data consumption is increasing year after year. For this reason, it's best to budget a few megabytes more to have enough internet available.

If you don't want to miss out on any applications when you're on the move and want to stream video content easily via the mobile network, a Sunrise subscription with at least 5 GB data volume is recommended.

If you are occasionally on the move on platforms, stream music and are constantly in contact with others, you belong to the normal users. It is advisable to choose a tariff with 2 to 5 gigabytes of data volume.

If, on the other hand, you only use the Internet at home and are logged into WLAN networks almost exclusively, a mobile phone tariff with up to 500 megabytes of data volume is perfectly adequate.

A free landline telephone connection with a per-minute rate is included in the Sunrise We Home S subscription. The connection fee is a one-off charge of CHF 79. If you book online, the fee is waived.

The Sunrise Internet subscription has a minimum contract period of 12 months and costs CHF 55 per month.

Sunrise We Mobile M

The Sunrise We Mobile M Internet subscription is particularly suitable for households with demanding Internet use via multiple end devices. With an upload and download speed of up to 500 Mbit/s (via fibre or G.Fast), surfing is possible here. In addition, a free fixed network connection with a per-minute rate is included.

If you book online, the connection fee of 79 francs is waived.

The third Sunrise Internet subscription, We Home L, is the top-speed package from Sunrise. A free fixed network connection with a per-minute rate is also included here.

The connection fee of CHF 79 is waived if you order the Internet subscription online.
