Swisscom Network Coverage

Swisscom Network Coverage

The network coverage of a cellular provider shows you the availability of a cellular network at a specific location. If this is good at a location, good reception can be guaranteed.

There are numerous providers of mobile phone subscriptions in Switzerland, but few of these companies also have their own network. This is mainly due to the high costs incurred in building, operating and expanding such a network. Normally, the smaller providers fall back on the existing networks of a large provider.

The customers of the mobile communications provider Swisscom benefit from nationwide network coverage. According to Swisscom, the following networks are operated: 3G (UMTS / HSPA), 4G (LTE), 4G + / LTE Advanced, 5G and 5G +.

According to the network operators, almost 100% of the Swiss are already benefiting from the 4G network. The providers are now working on comprehensive 5G network coverage, which guarantees even faster internet. According to Swisscom, 96% of the population have already used the basic version of the 5G network. At the end of 2020, Swisscom had more than 1239 antennas in 522 locations with 5G +.

The new standard can already be used, especially in urban regions.

The abbreviations 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G are the names for the different generations of the cellular standard. The G stands for generation. The main difference between the individual connection types is the speed of data transmission.

The differences between the cellular standards at a glance:

3G: With the introduction of UMTS, the era of mobile surfing began. The predecessor 2G was mainly used for telephony and sending SMS. With the 3G / UMTS cellular standard, download speeds of up to 384 kbit / s can be achieved.

4G: With the 4G network coverage, fast surfing and downloading is possible. The LTE connection enables a speed of 500 Mbit / s. In practice, however, the maximum download speeds are almost never achieved, as this is heavily dependent on the number of devices logged into the transmission tower. In addition, it is crucial which LTE download rate the smartphone supports.

LTE is also much more extensive than the 3G network. Many network providers have now had their antennas converted into LTE antennas.

5G: Industry in particular benefits from the even faster 5G network. The download speed is up to 2 Gbit / s. The 5G + network uses 5G with high bandwidths and even enables transmission rates of up to 10 Gbit / s.

Swisscom Cancellation

Would you like to cancel your Swisscom contract or change your Swisscom subscription? Over time, it can make sense to cancel your plan to get a better deal. We therefore recommend that you end your contract after two or three years or change your Swisscom subscription. In the following, you will find out what you should pay attention to when you cancel.

Cancel a Swisscom Subscription - This Is How It Works

If you want to extend your existing Swisscom subscription, you can do so by renewing your subscription. If you want to terminate the contract, you should inform the provider, Swisscom Mobile SA, in writing or by telephone. We recommend that you send a letter to the Swisscom address.

The letter should contain your name, your customer number, the contract number or mobile phone number and the services to be terminated. You can also provide other contact options such as your own phone number so that you can be contacted immediately if you have any questions.

You send the letter to Swisscom AG, Contact Center, Alte Tiefenaustrasse 6 in 3050 Bern, Switzerland. So that the termination can be assigned to the responsible department more quickly, you can add Customer Service to the address. If you prefer to cancel by phone, you can contact customer service on 0800 800 800.

Swisscom Notice Period and Minimum Contract Period

Before you cancel the Swisscom subscription, you should carefully examine the contract. This regulates, among other things, which notice period and minimum contract period must be observed. The notice period describes the period between the submitted notice and the termination of the contract with the provider.

The minimum contract term, on the other hand, is the time in which the contract is effective and legally binding. The contractual relationship cannot be prematurely terminated within this period.

Cancel a Swisscom Mobile Phone Subscription

If you want to keep the phone number, you should register it with the new provider in good time. You will receive the form for taking over the number from them. Also make sure that you only cancel your Swisscom subscription when you switch to a new subscription. If the subscription is canceled first and then switched later, your phone number will be lost and cannot be reactivated. The easiest way is to order a new subscription.

The new provider then takes over the termination and the takeover of the mobile phone number.

If you want to switch to a Swisscom subscription that has a higher monthly fee, you can do this free of charge. However, if you switch to a cheaper subscription, fees will apply. So you pay 150 francs when you switch to a cheaper subscription within the first 30 days after signing the contract.

If you do not need your mobile subscription for a certain period, you as a private customer can temporarily pause the contract for 2 to 12 months.

Cancel a Swisscom Internet Subscription

If you would like to cancel your Swisscom Internet subscription, please inform the provider of this by telephone or in writing, observing the 60-day notice period. As a rule, a minimum contract period of 12 months applies to Swisscom Internet subscriptions.

Cancel the Swisscom-combi Subscription

The Swisscom Home subscription (landline, mobile phone, Internet or TV connection) is subject to a notice period of two months and compliance with the minimum contract period. You can notify the provider of the termination by telephone or in writing.

Swisscom Hotline for Customers

If you have any questions, you can call the Swisscom hotline. The customer service telephone number is 0800 800 800. If you have a flat-rate telephone, the Swisscom landline number is free of charge.

Swisscom Internet Subscription Offers

Surfing is becoming more and more important these days. Depending on the surfing volume required, other subscriptions are recommended. There are data-only subscriptions on the market as well as subscriptions that include a certain Internet speed. Below you can find out which Swisscom Internet subscriptions are available and how you can find out how much data volume you need.

Know Your Own Needs

The first thing you should ask yourself is how much internet do you need. Data-intensive apps and applications are becoming increasingly popular and data usage is increasing year after year. For this reason, it is best to plan a few megabytes more in order to have enough Internet available.

If you don't want to miss out on any applications while on the move and want to stream video content over the mobile network without any problems, we recommend a Swisscom subscription with at least 5 GB of data volume.

If you are occasionally on the go on platforms, stream music and are constantly in contact with others, you are a normal user. Here it is advisable to select a tariff with 2 to 5 gigabytes of data volume.

If, on the other hand, you only use the Internet at home and are almost exclusively logged into Wi-Fi networks, a cell phone tariff with up to 500 megabytes of data is sufficient.
