In this overview, we’ll show you what Salt has to offer you. We give you information about mobile phone Salt subscriptions, Salt TV and high-speed Internet as well as tips on how to cancel your Salt contract correctly.

About Salt

Salt headquarters are located in the town of Renens on Lake Geneva. The company, formerly known as Orange, changed its name to Salt after being acquired by the French company NJJ Capital in 2015. Behind this investment company is the billionaire Xavier Niel, who has decades of experience in the telecommunications market and is known in France as an Internet pioneer.

Salt’s offerings increased sharply in 2018 as Salt TV and the Internet were added to the program. Previously, Salt had focused on selling subscription plans without mobile phones and subscriptions with mobile phones. At Salt, customers can choose from a wide range of smartphones and various mobile subscriptions, including Salt Plus and “Das ABO”, a product specially developed for Swiss Post. Salt Mobile also has prepaid tariffs in its range.

Tip: Are you looking for a cheap mobile phone subscription? Then alao.ch is the right place for you. Because no matter what your user profile is like: We’ll help you find the right mobile phone contract for you in the subscription jungle!

Interested in a Salt Subscription?

Salt Mobile offers offer subscriptions with and without mobile phones. There are constantly special offers, but with a contract without a mobile phone, one must commit oneself at least 12 months long and with subscriptions with a mobile phone even 24 months long. Some advertising campaigns are likewise contracts with 24 months running time to reason, although it concerns Abos without a mobile phone. One should thus always pay attention to the small print.

Salt calls up prices for its mobile subscriptions that can keep up with the competition. However, mobile contracts usually have a term of at least 12 months. Existing customers are repeatedly offered offers that require an upgrade to a mobile phone contract with a term of 24 months. In addition to the standard subscriptions, the company offers special subscriptions for people under 30 years of age. The Salt Plus Swiss Young is such a subscription for young people. With this subscription, the same conditions apply as with the mobile plan Swiss Plus; however, the Swiss Young subscription is CHF 10 cheaper.

One of the best-known products among the mobile subscriptions from Salt Mobile is the subscription, which is sold exclusively via Swiss Post. The “Das ABO” tariff includes 10 GB of data volume. In addition, unlimited calls can be made within Switzerland, the EU and the USA (fixed and mobile networks). Interested parties can book the subscription with or without a mobile phone.

Salt Fiber

Many were enthusiastic when Salt launched Salt Fiber – a particularly fast Internet for the home – on the Swiss market. Before Salt Fiber, the maximum speed offered by all providers in Switzerland was 1,000 Mbps. Salt, on the other hand, suddenly offered a speed of 10,000 Mbit/s, believe it or not. Such a mega-speed sounds very sexy of course, but actually, 50 Mbit/s is enough to watch movies on Netflix, send e-mails and stream music.

It is interesting to note that Salt finally offers a product with internet Fiber that, according to the product description, does not require a “minimum contract period”. However, the price for the alleged contract flexibility is very high if you look at the conditions in the small print: “The following cancellation fees apply: Maximum amount of CHF 198 in case of cancellation in the first month. Thereafter, the cancellation fee is reduced by CHF 6 per month. After 33 months, there are no cancellation fees.”

Salt Fiber Box

In order to be able to use the enormous speed potential of the Internet lines, Salt has developed the Salt Fiber Box, a modem of the mega power class. The Fiber Box is a further step by Salt to advance the ultra-fast fiber optic technology. The modem is based on the so-called XGS-PON standard, which makes it possible to achieve Internet speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s both when downloading and uploading data. The distance between the sender and the receiver of the data is irrelevant.

However, the Salt Fiber Box remains the property of Salt. It is even expressly forbidden to open the box, and Salt requests the modem back after the end of the contract.

Salt TV

With TV, they offer its customers a free app with which hundreds of channels can be received in different languages. In addition, Salt Video is also available, an app for buying or renting films and series.

But how does television work with Salt? The TV App can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or the App Store and installed on mobile devices or, for example, the Apple TV Box.

The TV offer includes various packages that differ in languages, among other things. The basic package in the “TV Deutsch” package contains 220 channels. The same applies to the French and Italian versions. Channels such as Sky Sport can also be booked within the Salt-TV app.

There is also a Spanish-speaking bundle with which you can receive various channels from Spain for CHF 9.95 a month. Other language packages are Portuguese (CHF 9.95 per month) and Russian (CHF 19.95 per month).

Salt contact possibilities

To reach the customer service you can simply call the free Salt Hotline 0800 700 700. If you call from abroad, you have to dial the following Customer Service phone number: +41 78 700 70 00.

In addition, Salt offers the possibility of writing to customer service via a contact form.

Customers can also change their own options in their My Salt area or, for example, pay the bill. All you have to do is log in using the Salt login.

Cancel Salt

For customers who would like to cancel their subscription, Salt offers a special telephone number: 0800 780 100. The call to customer service is also free of charge here. However, this hotline is only manned by Mon-Fri from 9:00 – 18:30 o’clock. A telephone call can be particularly worthwhile for those customers who are not yet sure whether they really want to cancel. In some cases, customer service offers a special bonus to a customer who is willing to cancel, for example complaining about the poor reception at Salt, in order to dissuade the customer from his intention to cancel.

In addition to the telephone cancellation option, it is also possible to cancel in a classic way by written notice. The notice period in both cases is usually 60 days to the end of the minimum contract period.

The address for written cancellation is:

If you cancel your subscription prematurely, i.e. before the end of the minimum contract period, you must expect to pay a contractual penalty. It is best to clarify the situation with Salt’s customer service before terminating the contract. You can also call the Salt Hotline for cancellations: 0800 780 100.

Terminating Salt by e-mail is not listed as a termination option in Salt’s General Terms and Conditions. If you want to cancel effectively, you should do so by letter or telephone.
