Price comparison and deal apps: With these apps you can save a lot, not only on Black Friday!
Whether it's Black Friday, Cyber Week or Prime Day: price comparison and deal apps are not only your BFF on BF. These apps provide you with more details and even give you a price history so that you can see the price development. This way, a supposed sale may turn out to be a dud because other shops are cheaper. Or the desired product on the list has been raised in price just before the sale, which means that the savings are lower. Shops know the limits of legality and use clever tricks to test them anew each time.
Note: A few of the following apps are developed in Germany and are therefore primarily designed for the German market. Nevertheless, the price search engines also list shops that deliver or are active in Switzerland and shops that do not deliver to Switzerland. Please find out whether the shop in question also delivers to Switzerland and how high the shipping costs are. There are providers such as meineinkauf.ch that deliver goods ordered in Germany to Switzerland for a fee. Please also note potential import charges.
Tip: At the time of publication of this article, the exchange rate euro to Swiss franc and vice versa is roughly 1:1.
These are the best price comparison apps
Swiss price comparison and price search engines
Unlike our European neighbours, Switzerland has no dedicated price comparison apps. Although Toppreise.ch had an iOS and Android app, it is no longer developing it and instead refers to the responsive website.
Preisvergleich.ch is also designed for the Swiss market, but we can only recommend the site to a limited extent, as the site does not always show the cheapest offers on the overview page.
Idealo claims to be Germany's largest search engine, and it shows: there is hardly a product that is not listed there: whether it's a coffee machine, travel suitcase or video games, the products are presented clearly and in detail. There is a price history and you can put items on your watch list so that you are immediately notified by push message when your desired product is on sale.
Geizhals is also an app developed primarily for the German market, but as with Idealo and Billiger, it lists shops that operate in Switzerland or deliver to Switzerland. Geizhals also offers wish lists and price histories. It also shows you immediately whether delivery to Switzerland is possible.
As the ending suggests: Billiger.de is also ostensibly a German price search engine. According to its own information, you can find over 4 million products there. The barcode search is particularly helpful - you can check directly in the shop whether it is the cheapest offer or whether it is cheaper elsewhere. The app also offers price histories, wish lists and reminder functions.
The best bargain and deal apps
In contrast to the price search engines above, deal apps focus primarily on the community idea and show a few, but selected offers from a shop. Advantage: You can ask the community whether the shop delivers to Switzerland.
DeinDeal is probably the biggest deal site in Switzerland. The app shows you the best deals in Switzerland, with which you can save up to 70 %. In addition, DeinDeal also shows you deals from your neighbourhood in the biggest Swiss cities. You can even find travel deals in the app.
Transparency note: alao has advertised on DeinDeal in the past.
Preispirat also shows the best bargains in Switzerland. With the app, you can comment on, rate and even post deals while you're on the go. Whether favourite articles, entire categories or favourite shops: Preispirat also offers personalised push notifications so that you are guaranteed not to miss any of your favourite deals. Shopping events such as Black Friday or Prime Day are displayed in a separate tab. Thanks to reviews from others, you can see immediately whether the deal is really worth it.
Mein Deal is not related to DeinDeal, but an independent brand. Since 2009, the shopping blog has listed the best deals from eBay, Zalando and Media Markt. Although primarily tailored to the German market, you can also occasionally find deals from shops that deliver to Switzerland. Thanks to personal filters, only relevant push messages are sent to you on request so that you are guaranteed not to miss a deal.
DealDoktor is also a bargain community tailored for the German market with, according to its own information, 200,000 members, which occasionally also delivers Swiss deals. If you submit deals yourself, you can receive so-called Heartbeats, which you can redeem for BestChoice or Amazon vouchers.
Black Friday Apps
If you are only after Black Friday deals, you should take a look at the following apps. The advantage of these apps is that only Black Friday bargains are displayed. However, the apps are pretty useless outside of this period.
Even if they are very similar in name: Blackfridaydeals.ch and Blackfriday.ch are not the same thing. Blackfridaydeals.ch displays the best deals punctually at midnight. Rate bargains and exchange information with other users in the app to find the best deal. Filter the bargains by latest or best offers or by category. Of course, the app also sends you push notifications so you never miss a deal again.
Blackfriday.ch says it is a partner of hundreds of shops and brands and informs you about the best Black Friday deals on the go. To avoid being tempted to make unnecessary purchases, you can create filters so that only certain brands are displayed. And push notifications prevent your desired product from being sold out.
Conclusion: Save big with price comparison and bargain apps
Even if some of the apps on this list are designed more for our European neighbours: It can still be worthwhile to take a look at these apps. Often the offers are cheaper in Germany than here. Nevertheless, please note that import fees may be due, especially for the German offers.
