In Nandere, Uganda, the local population struggles with the effects of deforestation, soil erosion, and the challenges of climate change. The soil has heated up to 60° C and hence is infertile. This leads to the fact that many young people move to the cities and end up in criminality. But there is hope: the Agroforestry4Future project demonstrates how regenerative agriculture can create a sustainable future, which gives a perspective to young people and hence impacts their life positively.
On the campus of the Bethany Land Institute in Nandere, new agroforestry areas are being developed across more than 170,000 m². The region’s only natural forest area is thus becoming a living classroom for sustainable agriculture.
